Who's Up for Some Testimony? (My Career Story)

 This might be the hardest and most vulnerable article I'll ever put down...oh well, turns out this statement goes higher every time so I think I should add for now....

I say this because I will be adding some of my personal notes that I wrote along the journey when God was transitioning me. It's important for me to include them so that anyone who reads these articles will be able to connect with not just one part of my story(the testimony) but the whole journey, how it all began,the hard yeses I have given God over time,the endurance,the work mentality that God has continuously refined in me,the tears and pain...I am going to share everything with you dear reader. Because everything played a role for me to get where I am currently. It's a long story...maybe we will get a part one and part two of my career story :)

So...let the journey begin! How I landed my first ever job after school.

The year was 2023,the first quarter of the year. I was almost done with school and I remember being so anxious about life after school. How will I transition to life back home permanently. My family had moved back to Nairobi from Mombasa while I was in Campus and though this move was not hard because that's where we had initially lived...I never really settled well again due to schooling in another county far from home. Now I'll be going back home,to live there...oh and I also need a job,I can't stay at home idle. I think every final year student is familiar with this stress so well. The transition is not that easy and with the unemployment statistics out there,getting a job feels like an impossible dream somehow. My hope honestly was on my clothing business that I was operating in Campus and my brother's snack business. Business is and will always be my first love and I knew this is what I will continue doing as I search for a job. Well... turns out God had other plans for me that were nothing of what I had imagined or thought. I need to add this part though... it's very important I include it because so many people have fallen for this lie and today we are rebuking it and coming out of agreement with every false thing that was spoken over us.

I was never expecting to get a job soon because I was more familiar with the possibility of suffering. I didn't think God could bless me very quickly, I thought I was the "unlucky" people who suffer for long before something good came their way. Like we don't get it easy and do you know where this stupid lie came from? People. I remember the constant comparison from people sometimes even relatives. We were never raised by parents who compared their kids so I was always a confident girl in my own abilities. External validation never mattered to me since my parents made sure we all believed in ourselves. You can imagine my shock as a young adult in campus going through tons of problems when people started labelling me unlucky. It came as a complete shock because this statement always came when they were comparing me with my older siblings. I remember how this broke my heart and made me mistrust people so much. What I didn't know is somehow somewhere this lie of being unlucky and not smart enough was planted in my heart...the more it was spoken to me, the more I believed it subconsciously... the circumstances were not showing me any better anyway. So yes, I was not optimistic about getting a job.

Guess when I landed my first job? One week after finishing my final year exams. I only stayed at home one full week. The other week on Wednesday, I started a full time job not an internship. One I was not even qualified for, in an industry that was completely alien to me. I was so young,just 22 and I got the role. When people say God will open doors you are not even qualified for,I stand to tell my story. I remember I was always anxious to go to work because I had no idea what I was doing. I had the most amazing boss I've had the pleasure to work with. My mindset was, this man gave me a shot with zero experience,he is patient with me when I make mistakes... I will always do my best. That was where my desire to always bring excellence in whatever I do was birthed from. God gave me favour and he was always with me. And not just that btw...in that same week before I got the role,I had gone for another interview and passed. I remember being called later to inquire if I am still available for the role. All this happened in one week guys. One week. For a girl who had been told she is unlucky,who thought she would suffer for long because people like her do not make it easily. My story had already been written for me. He had already prepared a job for me, one I was not even qualified or experienced for, he had already gone before me and made my crooked path straight. He was in my future and my present all at the same time.

I bet he was hearing those lies and wondering, that's my daughter?? My child you are speaking about?? You know what's funny? When people told me I was not lucky my only answer was,I don't believe in luck,I believe in favour and I carry the favour of God. I used to say it carelessly because deep down I was starting to question if maybe what they are saying is true. Another thing i remember now in hindsight is, I always had a strong feeling especially in my final semester that i will not tarmac,i that I will get a job very soon. It was a strong knowing in my heart that I brushed off the minute I thought about it. I didn't want to expect so much and get disappointed. This goes to say, God shocked me with this job. He left me wondering how on earth this is possible. If I tell you how unqualified I was, please believe me. Yoh... I will speak about it in depth one day. How this job laid a foundation for my career,God gave me that role for a purpose.

With this being said dear reader,I want you and me both of us to rebuke every lie that was spoken over us. I want you to understand that this was the enemy speaking it sometimes through people to deter you from the path God has already set before you. Every lie comes against who you actually are,the enemy does not do any aimless hits,he is not a fool...he sees what God has placed inside you...he sees the solution you carry for a specific problem in this world.. he sees your gifts and talents,he sees the powerful voice God has given you,he sees your identity and what Christ gave you on the cross,he sees your soul and baby he hates every damn thing about you. He wants to wipe off your very existence on this earth so the first thing he starts by doing is speaking subtle lies over you. To separate you from God, then slowly scatter you apart. Every lie,every single one of them we are coming out of agreement with it today and right now. I will pray for us after and I believe people will be delivered today. I believe someone will come out of this article with their souls restored and with a fresh new anointing because God will open their eyes to see who they are in him.

If anyone has told you like they told me that we are unlucky,we are not good enough or smart enough...that we will not become someone significant in this world...I don't care if it's a lie you have told yourself or someone close to you has told you.. we are rebuking it. That was the enemy. We will replace this lie with the truth of the word of God. God says he will grant us honour and favour...that it will rest upon us. God says that even before he formed us in our mother's womb he knew us and he set us apart to be his prophets among the nations. In Ephesians God says that he has predestined us for his good works. Good works from a good God were predestined for us to walk in even before we came into this world. Who is that again telling you you will not amount to anything good? I want you to see for yourself this is a lie. Go read Ephesians 2:10, Job 1:5 and Job 29:11-13. For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans for your welfare and not for evil. To give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Read it and proclaim the word of God over every stupid lie that was spoken over you. You carry the hand of God,his son died to give you life and life in abundance,if he feeds the birds of the air and clothes the lilies in the field who today are here and tomorrow are gone how much more will he do for you oh men of little faith? That's what Jesus tells us in Mathew 6. Your presence in this world is not random,you are here for a powerful reason and the enemy knows it. Do not let him cause a miscarriage to your God-given purpose. You will carry it full term and deliver. The goal is for every one of us to die having accomplished what God has put in us and predestined us to walk in.

We will do exactly that...

Has anyone told you how dumb you are,that you don't make sense,that nothing good can come out of your mouth,have you felt like your voice and what you have to say doesn't matter,have people laughed at your ideas and mocked you causing you to shrink away sometimes even subconsciously,have they mocked your talents and gifts and compared you to another person,do you walk with so much grief because of the things you genuinely loved but had to abandon because someone somewhere told you to grow up and stop being childish. Oh I feel it in my heart,so many of us left our childhood dreams and imaginations because we were told they won't take us anywhere and yet we loved doing them. They gave us so much joy, didn't they? Has anyone told you,your life was a mistake to begin with,have you felt foreign and unloved in your own family, like you long for acceptance and fail to get it, or maybe you have done so many mistakes and grieved those close to you hence carry a chip on your shoulder that you don't deserve love and acceptance again.

God has loved you, your voice matters, your gifts and talents were put in you for a reason, when they mock you they are mocking the God who created you, don't let it take away what he has already placed inside you and said it was good. Remember this beautiful earth and the breathtaking sceneries were created by the God who created you too. People pay and travel across the world to capture the beauty that is nature,they climb the highest mountains and are left in awe at how tall they stand,the ocean is yet to be explored completely by man, people travel to space and reach the moon because we are captivated by everything around us. God created it...he created the sun and they know when to rise and when to set. He formed the mountains and sunk the valleys. He formed the dry land and put a bound that the waters should not pass,every beast on this earth was created by God,they all rely on God for food,he appointed a whole whale to swallow his beloved yet stubborn son Jonah and rebuked the seas to spit for his people to pass through...then drowned their enemies. Creation sings of his glory because they know who is their creator,and the same wonderful creator took his time to form you...and unlike all his other creations,this time round he said," let us form man from our own image and after our own likeness." Then he breathed his breath of life inside us and gave us life. We are jars of clay carrying life...what sets us apart is the fact we are created in the image and likeness of God.

Oh today we will understand what this means, someone needs to truly know they are not ordinary, someone needs to understand why this lies are spoken to us in the first place,why do you say Satan hates us Catherine? What did we do? 

It is not about what you did but who you are. Once your identity is restored there is nothing the enemy can do to shake you again. He is not after your gifts or talents or blessings or prosperity. He is not even after your family.. he is after your identity,he will do anything to keep you away from you knowing what happened on the cross because the further he can keep you from Jesus the further he can keep you from yourself. And once you are far from truth and the way of life. There is no lie you won't believe...truth becomes adjustable to your own terms which are always Satan's terms at play. He is the prince of air and the ruler of this world.

Okay let's play it back a little...I have said we are coming against every lie with the truth of the word of God. We are not doing affirmations here or smooth motivations. I don't want you to feel good about yourself,I want you delivered from every single lie you have taken in and I want your identity restored. The word of God is not only living and active,it is a double edged sword,we carry it for battle because it pierces through every bone and marrow and goes through the divisions of soul and spirit. It discerns our thoughts and intentions of our heart. Before God, we cannot be Hidden. When God said let us create man in our own image and likeness please note he did not say 'let me' he said 'let us' this shows me one thing... He was not alone. And in the gospel of John 1,it is written, "In the beginning was the word,the word was with God and the word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him and without him nothing was made. In him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1:1-5) When you read the first paragraph in John he is referring to Jesus,his Lordship and who he is.. the word made flesh and dwelt among us. Meaning Jesus was with God from the beginning. And apart from him nothing was formed. We know Jesus said that he is the truth the way and the life. So nothing could have been formed apart from him because he is the living word.

In Genesis 1, it says the spirit of God was roaming on earth.. now remember before Jesus ascended he instructed his disciples to stay in Jerusalem as they await the promise of the father.. which was the Holy Spirit. In Acts 1:8 Jesus tells his disciples, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea, in Samaria and to the end of the earth." Jesus then went up to heaven and he is sitted at the right side of his father. On Pentecost day, the Holy Spirit came down to the disciples and when he did,this was a fulfilment of what Jesus had spoken to his disciples. That he will send us a helper,who now dwells in anyone who is saved in the name of Jesus. This was also a fulfillment of Joel's prophecy; that in the last days God will send his spirit upon all flesh. So to circle it back to when God said let us create man in our own image and likeness.. he was God the father God the son and God the Holy Spirit. A triune God, he assembled every part of him when he was creating us which he didn't when he created every other creation. And that's why the redemption and reconciliation of man back to God needed him to give us all of himself too...his son as a living sacrifice for us to be saved. Salvation to God costed him a part of himself so when the enemy tells you how unlovable you are,if this is a lie you have believed.. remember God gave a part of himself for you.. remember on the cross lies the son of God dying for us and wonder how much it hurt God to see his only begotten son on the cross beaten up only for your sake... because you too belong to him. You are his child, you carry his DNA, that's how deep his love for you runs and Paul says not sure in which letter that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. There is nothing... nothingg at all. And not just his son. He promised to send us his spirit who now dwells inside us.. the Holy Spirit. He gave us all of himself. How can we doubt his love? How can we let anyone make us believe that the love of God is conditional - mostly according to what we do or do not do.. when God himself says his LOVE IS STEADFAST UNCONDITIONAL AND ENDURES FOREVER. HE IS SLOW TO ANGER AND ABOUNDING IN LOVE. We were saved by the grace of God, every one of his child.

Now a triune God, powerful in all his ways,who speaks and the word does not return to him void, said let us create man in our image after our own likeness. In every human,we are one being yet three at the same time. The body, the soul and the spirit. Our spirit is what longs for God whether we know him or not. Whether we believe it or not there is always a void in everyone that only God can fill. And when we don't go to him. We look for a replica in the quest of trying to fill this void. Now that's where the enemy plays us hard... He will masquerade anything to look good to keep you away from God who is the one who is actually good. We are spiritual beings, every human. So when anyone tells you they are spirtiual, it really means nothing...even the witches are. Every one is, we all carry a spirit inside us. But not everyone carries the Holy Spirit too. That is the difference between a believer of Jesus Christ and everyone else. We also have our soul and the body. When a person dies,it is only the body that dies. Only God is able to kill both the body and the soul. The body will only return back to the dust God used to create us. But the soul and spirit will wait for its judgement from God who created it and breathed life into it. Death spiritually is separation from God,when we say Jesus came to give us life and life in abundance.. it means he gave us life beyond the physical...now in him we get to live for an eternity,he shared with us his inheritance as the first born of many brethren.

It's sad when I see how much Christians do not understand what the Bible actually carries... how powerful we are because of the one who lives inside us. We carry the spirit of God in us,we are unstoppable. When will we thirst for God truly that he may reveal himself to us,when will we know walking in spiritual authority gives us power even in the natural. That nothing can come against us without going through God first when we walk a life submitted to him. Submission is everything in our lives as believers. We need to shake off the carnality and thirst for holiness. We need to pray to God and seek his face daily. We need to know being blessed doesn't necessarily mean we carry the authority of the presence of God with us. He makes it rain for both the wicked and the righteous but hides his face from their iniquities. He is Holy,he is Holy and he has called us to be holy too because we are formed in his likeness. This is who we really are. One day I will write about spiritual authority, submission to God and governance in the spiritual realm. Power only flows when we are submitted to God. When He becomes Lord over our lives and we are submitted to his authority.That is where a divine exchange takes place...when Jesus prays let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. When we submit to the will of God,heaven partners with us and the presence of God is made manifest in us everyday through the Holy Spirit.

Sin will only cause us death and by death please understand it is not the physical death the Bible talks about. Sanctification is what renews us and conforms us to the image of Christ our saviour. Salvation is free but Sanctification will always cost us something. And every time we submit to this life process,God reveals himself to us.. his presence becomes more clear and more heavy in our lives. God does not speak to specific people only,he does not love certain people only. He loves all of us, he wants to walk with all of us.. it is our sins and iniquities that cause us to be separated from him. Our hardened hearts block his voice and conviction. He is the same today, yesterday and forever.. seek him and you will find him. No lie is too big or small for him not to crush. Once you understand who you are in Christ Jesus everything else will follow suit. In fact the lies will fall off like scales and your eyes will be opened to not only know who God is.. but also know who you are.

Oh well. I thought I was writing a testimony,God took over the topic completely. I felt strongly I needed to address the lies we have believed somewhere in our lives even subconsciously. You were made in the image of a big God, trust me.. you are more than enough. Everything in you is spectacular and God has created you for such a time as this. Don't underestimate your presence on this earth. Let God reveal you to yourself babessss.

I won't be doing you good justice if I don't mention this. Everyday I am learning the power of praying the word of God and I love a verse in Ephesians 1:17-23:) when Paul was praying for the saints in Ephesis...that God may grant them the spirit of wisdom and of revelation In the knowledge of him that the eyes of their hearts may be enlightened. This is always my daily prayer and I will put it down below so that we can pray it together.

Ending Prayer:

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,the father of glory...may give us a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him. Having the eyes of our hearts enlightened, that we may know what is the hope to which he has called us, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power in us who believe according to the working of his great might which he accomplished in Christ when he rose him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in the heavenly places. I pray Lord that you may grant revelation of who you are to everyone reading this and let your power that is at work in them raise them up as you raised your son. I pray this in the name that is above all names,the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Amen.
