The Healing breakdown
It's so important to break the illustration I gave,to help us understand more better the healing concept...it's a bittersweet journey I know but it's a journey worth every pain, every struggle... because on the other side of it is wholeness...divine peace and a natural connection with ourselves...our true self...I hope you will stick along till the end☺️
The companion, partner or parent represents the people we meet in life who create a safe space for us,who take our pain like theirs and help us through it,who listen to us effectively, who never get tired of our struggles, who tell us the truth even when we don't want to hear it,who help us,love us and show us real people do exist...these people may be friends who became family, parents, siblings, therapy and above all God. We turn back and cry to God to help us in this thing called life, even with the doubts he hears our prayer and heal every broken part in us.
Us grumbling about people not helping us on our way home is actually what we do when talking to God,that therapist, friend or family member...we are bitter and resentful that nobody actually took their time to come to our aid...we think they never loved us enough to comprehend our pain, they never cared enough....we feel hurt they let us down when we needed them the most...the truth is sometimes those People we expect to help us,be with us through thick and thin, hold our hand and feel our pain are not able to do it because they don't have the mental, emotional, spiritual, financial or physical capacity to do it..you may want to help yet lack the capacity required to do it..God had other people aligned your way,he put them in position to help you...that does not make other people bad or 'fake'....it makes them human, just like you.
When we show our helper our wounded foot is us opening up at last...being raw and naked... accepting we are broken...crying to God to make us whole again whatever it takes because we are tired of living life second guessing ourselves, running away from our brokenness....it's us opening up to that therapist, maybe numbly or in tears...it's us opening up
Them taking our wounded foot and rubbing it gently, wiping the dry blood around it it's our helper or companion holding us as we speak, listening and rubbing our shoulders...it's them understanding our pain
When our helper starts squeezing the thorn area it's them telling us how the pain had changed us, pinpointing the areas it affected us,the triggers, bringing back the raw pain with it...it's them unpacking those hidden traumas and the pain is unbearable because we feel it live again in our hearts and minds...we are taken back to that moment when it happened...the pain resurfaces and we try to wriggle our foot from their grip because sometimes we can't stand the memories, the pain...we try to run away back to our hiding...we want to make the pain go away like before because we just can't handle it,we can handle the demons at night but not in broad daylight...not when the sun is up...we want to numb the pain and move on,we want the thorn to live in the foot because we think it's better,we hope it's better than facing our demons, our pains, our traumas, our past...we think we don't have the strength to do that and right this minute, the whole removing the thorn from the foot resembles what the unpacking process resembles...oh God it's ugly,it's bittersweet...it's a raging storm and somehow we anticipate the Storm will sink our ship...
Our helper continues unpacking these pains and traumas slowly by slowly...bit by bit...the pain keeps getting worse because our lives had been built around it...shaped around it without us knowing...now it's tumbling down...our lives had been changed by the traumas just the way the flesh had attached itself to the thorn...no wonder we question ourselves,no wonder we can't love the way we did,no wonder we can't trust ourselves the way we did...how would we when the pain made us think otherwise?
The process of removing the thorn takes time because separating the flesh from the thorn takes time...healing takes times too,it's a never ending process because our life has to fall apart again in order for it be made whole again...our broken heart must be mended inorder for it to become whole again...the pain is still there, not the initial pain but now it's the growing pain...it's a different kind of pain because it's pain we signed up for when we prayed to God to make us whole again, when we went to therapy, when we opened up to that friend or family...we wanted to be better,we desired to be better, whole and the world will test us just as much...the growing pain must occur to make us stronger,to make us stay in that journey of healing even when our lives seem to be falling apart...because going back to that pain defined individual is not an option...we want to feel life again...to love again wholeheartedly, create again with everything we got
When the thorn comes to view is when our helper recognizes the root of the trauma and pain...it's when the root of the damage comes to view...they are happy because the whole process is now producing results to help them trace the patterns, how the traumas caused by the past pains manifest in our lives...is it our relationships,work,family...they take us through it patiently with empathy.
Now the thorn is finally removed,my God,they show us that little devil and the pain that is suddenly gone is when the root of the traumas or pain is finally uprooted or dealt with, and though it's effect is still there, they can now take us through the effects...the pain is gone because we can no longer feel it as deep as we did....the therapy, our relationship with God,our partner or friend now feel like the best thing that has ever happened to us...we are no longer scared of the demons because they equip us with the right tools to fight them... depression no longer breeds suicidal thoughts, love no longer smells like heartbreak...because whenever we go back there,we don't feel helpless again...healing equips us with a kind of self awareness that whenever we go back to the dark pit, because sometimes we do,we can feel it and ask for help boldly...we speak up and the demons now know they are dealing with a person who knows 'pain is inevitable in life but pain cannot define me, whosever....I will feel it,walk through it,pray to my most able God,talk to someone,go for therapy and create spaces where I feel safe enough to be my most authentic vulnerable self...where not being okay is still okay, not having things figured out is fine and questioning myself is not a crime'...and the only way we create such spaces my dear readers is by being those spaces...
